HOBBS, N.M. - Hardin-Simmons men's golf team placed third at the Mustang Classic held Monday and Tuesday at the Ocotillo Golf Course in Hobbs, N.M.

Chris Phillips led the Cowboys with a three-round score of 215, which was 1-under par at the par-72 layout. He fired rounds of 72, 73 and 70 en route to a second place finish, four shots behind the College of the Southwest's Scott Shouldice.

Ryan Salinas also came in with a top 10 shooting a six-over 222 with rounds of 73-77-72. J.C. Eagle 76-78-76--230, Travis Brown 74-85-76--235 and Davey Davis 75-79-89--243 rounded out the Cowboy lineup.

McMurry won the vent with an 880, 15 shots better than the Cowboys' 895.
