SEGUIN, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' golf team put together its second-straight strong outing and finished second at the Texas Lutheran Fall Classic, Monday and Tuesday at the 7,008-yard, par-72 Chaparral Country Club in Seguin, Texas.

The Cowboys trailed by nine strokes after round one on Monday but round two was suspended due to darkness and resumed Tuesday and the Cowboys finished round atop the leaderboard by two strokes over UT-Dallas. In the final round UT-Dallas shot a 288 and the Cowboys fired a 291 to finish one-stroke back of the Comets 871.

Scott Maurer of UT-Dallas won the medalist honors in a playoff over Scott Maurer of St. Mary's. The two finished the three-day event at 212.

Nick Atkinson led the Cowboys by placing fifth with a 73-69-71--215. Aaron Shipley (73-69-75--217), Clint Wellhausen (76-72-72--220), Chris Phillips (76-75-72--223) and Bryan Leverts (76-73-74--223) rounded out the Cowboy scoring. Matthew Dowling competes as an individual and shot 78-76-82--236.

The Cowboys now have a 12-1 record against Division III teams in two tournaments this season.
