FRANKSTON, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's golf team shot a 317 in the first round, but rebounded with an impressive 304 and currently sit in a tie for fourth place at the American Southwest Conference Championship at Prairie Dunes Resort and Golf Club in Frankston, Texas.

The Cowboys were in sixth place after the first round, but their 304 was the second-best effort in the second round. HSU is tied with McMurry and Texas-Tyler with one round remaining in the event. Texas Lutheran has a big lead with rounds of 291 and 306 for a 597 total. LeTourneau is in second place with a 609. Mary Hardin-Baylor is in third with a 612.

J.C. Eagle put together two solid rounds for the Cowboys with a 77 and 75 for a 152. He is tied for eighth place and the top 10 individuals earn all-ASC honors. Michael Faterkowski of Texas Lutheran is in first place with a 68-76-144 total.

Michael Weehunt and Davey Davis put together a pair of solid rounds and are tied for 16th place. Weehunt went 79-77 for a 156 and Davis had a 81-75 for his 156. Travis Brown shot 80-78-158 and Paul Schaub fired an 83-77-160.

The second round will begin at 9 a.m. on Tuesday.
