KERRVILLE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's golfer Ryan Salinas fired a final round 3-under 69 to claim the individual title at the American Southwest Conference Championship, Tuesday afternoon at Comanche Trace in Kerrville.

Salinas helped the Cowboys to a fifth place finish on a team that consisted of the sophomore Salinas and four freshmen. J.C. Eagle shot a 231, Davey Davis fired a 236, Michael Wheehunt a 241 and Chris Elliott a 248.

Mary Hardin-Baylor won the team event with a three-day 889, UT-Tyler was second, McMurry was third, Texas Lutheran fourth and HSU was fifth.

Salinas has an outside chance to qualify for the NCAA Championships as an individual, but a team berth is not likely.
