GEORGETOWN, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's golf team had one of its best rounds of the year with a 305 in the second round, but the Cowboys are in ninth place at the Division III West Regional Preview that is being played at the par-72, 6,648-yard Berry Creek Country Club in Georgetown.

Michael Weehunt had the best day for the Cowboys with rounds of 76 and 74 for a 150 total. He is tied for 16th overall. Brad Leeper continued his hot play with a 76-75-151 and is tied for 18th. Senior J.C. Eagle shot 77-77-154, Brian Laing shot 88-79-167 and Derek Eddins had rounds of 88 and 90 to round out the HSU lineup.

The University of LaVerne leads the tournament after rounds of 294 and 290 for a 584 total. HSU shot 317-305-622. Relands (589), Texas Lutheran (593), McMurry (594) and Mary Hardin-Baylor (601) rounded out the top five.

Aaron Garza of McMurry shot 70-69 and leads the individual race by four strokes with a 139.

The tournament will conclude with 18 holes on Tuesday.
