TEMPLE. Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's golf team placed fifth in the UMHB Spring Invitational Tuesday afternoon in Temple at the par-72, 6,943-yard layout at Wildflower Country Club in Temple.

Mary Hardin-Baylor won the team title with a 313-318--631, three strokes better than UT-Tyler and six strokes better than the Cowboys' 319-318-637. Texas Lutheran was third with a 634 and McMurry shot a 636 to finish one shot ahead of HSU.

Chris Clifton led the Cowboys with a 79-78--157, one stroke ahead of teammate J.C. Eagle's 80-78--158. Clifton tied for 12th and Eagle was tied for 15th. Michael Weehunt just missed a top 20 finish with an 81-79--160 to finish in 21st. Paul Schaub shot 79-83--162 and Aaron Lesley had an 84-83--167.
