Cowboys Earn All-American Honors

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons junior cornerback Alex Hansen and junior offensive guard Adam Hernandez continue to reap the rewards of solid seasons.

Hansen was named first-team All-American by D3Football.com and Hernandez earned second-team honors. The awards were announced at the Stagg Bowl on Saturday.

Both made All-American on the three major All-American teams. Hansen was first-team by Don Hansen's Football Gazette and was named third team by the CoSIDA team, formerly the Hewlett-Packard team.

Hernandez was first-team by Don Hansen's Football Gazette and CoSIDA. He led a solid offensive unit that allowed Lance Moore to become the first 1,000-yard back at HSU since 1995. He had 40 pancake blocks and did not allow a sack.

Hansen and Hernandez were named first-team all- South region. Lance Moore and linebacker Brent Gailey were named second team and safety Anthony Renfro and return specialist Jared May were named third -team all region.

All of the honorees except Renfro will be back for the Cowboys in 2004. HSU was 8-2 and the ASC tri-champs this past season.
