Dec. 13, 2004 COLUMBUS, Ohio - Hardin-Simmons' football team placed four players on the Don Hansen's Weekly Gazette All-American first team that was announced today and was voted on by College Sports Information Directors. A total of six Cowboys were on the three teams. Senior Adam Hernandez was named to the team for the second straight year as an offensive guard. Three Cowboy defenders joined Hernandez. Senior Brent Gailey was named as a linebacker, sophomore Will Galusha was honored at defensive back and sophomore Reggie Robinson made the team as a defensive lineman. Gailey was named the ASC defensive player of the year and was also named the south region defensive player of the year after recording 95 tackles. Galusha had eight interceptions in eight games, before going down to injury against McMurry. Robinson had 12 sacks on the year. Hernandez led a starting unit that gave up only one sack this season. Senior Alex Hansen was named All-American for the third time, making it on the second team. Senior running back Lance Moore was named to the third team as a running back. Hardin-Simmons went into the playoffs as a No. 1 seed in the South region and with a 10-0 record, before falling to Mary Hardin-Baylor in the second round, 42-28. UMHB will play for the national title this weekend against Linfield. |
