Dec. 8, 2005 ABILENE, Texas - Senior offensive tackle Tye Conry has been selected by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) to represent the United States as one of 46 NCAA Division III players to compete in the 2005 Aztec Bowl on Saturday, December 17th in Toluca, Mexico. The United States squad will be facing a team of the top college players from Mexico in what has become an annual battle between the two countries. Players will be flown to Mexico City on Sunday, December 11th and will travel from there to Toluca. They will spend the week leading up to the game practicing as well as sightseeing in and around the Toluca area. This year's U.S. coaching staff will again be led by former Central College Head Coach, Ron Schipper. Conry is the fifth Hardin-Simmons player to play in the event following Dustin Kiser (1998) Gary Gutierrez (1999), Kirk Rogers (2001) and Joe Lemberg (2003). Conry was a three-year starter for the Cowboys and was named first-team All-ASC this season. |
