Lance Moore

Nov. 23, 2004

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons senior running back Lance Moore was named one of 10 finalists for the Gagliardi Trophy, which is given to the top student-athlete in Division III football. He is the second Cowboy to be named a finalist for the award.

Moore was named the American Southwest Conference offensive player of the year and led the Cowboys to their 10th conference title in 12 years. He has set the school record for touchdowns in season with 24 and holds the Cowboy record for most rushing TDs in a career with 35.

Moore joins former Cowboy Corbett Boone as the only finalists for the award. The trophy is named after St. John's (Minn.) head coach John Gagliardi, who is college football's all-time wins leader.

The winner of the award will be named December 16th in conjunction with the Stagg Bowl festivities.
