Mychal Carrillo

Nov. 15, 2007

RICHARDSON, Texas - Hardin-Simmons had 10 different football players honored by the coaches of the American Southwest Conference in the postseason awards that were handed out on Thursday.

Senior slotback Mychal Carrillo and senior offensive tackle James Arnold were named to the first team offense. Carrillo led the league in catches and receiving touchdowns and was second in yards. He had 86 catches for 1,043 yards and 14 touchdowns. Arnold led an offensive line that paved the way for a 1,300 yard back and also allowed just 16 sacks in 346 pass attempts. Arnold did not allow a sack all year.

The Cowboys dominated the second team offense with five selections. Incredibly, Justin Feaster and Quinton Jones, who had two of the better seasons in school history, were put on the second team. Linemen Jordan Daniel and Ryan Hunter were on the second team as was Travis Watson at wide receiver.

Jones rushed for 1,356 yards and 18 touchdowns and ranked second in the conference in each category. He had over 400 yards more and twice as many touchdowns as T.J. Barber of Sul Ross State that was on the first team.

Feaster was second in the conference in total offense and was the highest rated passer among the starters in the league. He threw for 2,946 yards and 30 touchdowns and completed 65.5 percent of his passes.

Watson had 38 catches for 680 yards and four touchdowns.

Sophomore punter Kelsey Larson, senior linebacker Eric Daniels and senior defensive end Derek Lewis were named to the honorable mention team.

Mary Hardin-Baylor, which accounted for 24 all-conference team spots, had the ASC Defensive Player of the Year in linebacker Jerrell Freeman and the ASC Defensive Lineman of the Year in defensive end William Dewease.

Offensive tackle Caleb Woodall was voted ASC Offensive Lineman of the Year and kicker/punter Joel Munoz took the honor of ASC Special Teams Player of the Year. All four are seniors. UMHB's Pete Fredenburg was named ASC Coach of the Year.

Mississippi College senior wide receiver Jake Allen was dubbed ASC Offensive Player of the Year and Sul Ross State utility player Carlo Dominguez was named ASC Freshman of the Year.
