ABILENE, Texas -
For the second time this season, a Hardin-Simmons defender has been named the American Southwest Conference Football player of the week.
Linebacker Brent Gailey forced a fumble at the line to set-up the go-ahead Cowboys touchdown in a 37-35 win over Howard Payne on Saturday (Oct. 11). With HPU carrying a 14-10 lead and driving, Gailey anticipated the snap count and stripped QB Adam King of the ball as he backed away from center. The junior finished the game with 14 tackles, including 11 solos, three for loss and one sack.
Gailey is third on the team in tackles with 38. He joins Alex Hansen as Cowboys' named ASC defensive player of the week this season. HSU is 4-1 and will play at Sul Ross State this weekend.
