RICHARDSON, Texas - Junior cornerback Alex Hansen has been named the American Southwest Conference football defensive player of the week, after a dominating performance at Texas Lutheran.

Hansen, a preseason All-American, intercepted two passes and forced a fumble to go along with three tackles in the the Cowboys' 29-12 win. It was the third time in his career Hansen has won the award.

The two interceptions moved Hansen to a second-place tie with David Rausch on the HSU all-time interception list. It is the fourth time in his career he has posted two interceptions in a game.

HSU hosts Louisiana College in its home opener, Saturday at Shelton Stadium.
