ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons Football player Jared May and women's soccer player have been honored by the American Southwest Conference as players of the week.

A junior kick returner from Hamlin, May recorded his second kickoff return TD in as many games to help Hardin-Simmons open ASC play with a 47-14 win at Louisiana College. The 79-yard kick return TD in the fourth quarter gave him three for his HSU career, breaking the school kickoff return TD mark. May finished with one punt return for 6 yards and two kick returns for 88 yards. He leads the conference in kick return average.

Junior forward Cathy Castagnos scored seven goals, including two game-winners, and assisted on two other scores to help Hardin-Simmons open ASC play 2-0-0 and move to 3-1-0 for the season. Castagnos, who compiled 16 points in the weekend wins vs. Mary Hardin-Baylor and Concordia-Austin (Sept. 17-18), now ranks fourth on the HSU career goal-scoring list.
