ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' football team and a pair of individual earned special accolades by the Lindy's Magazine and Street and Smith Magazine in their preseason magazines that hit the newsstands this week.

Street and Smith's places the Cowboys No. 6 in its preseason top 25. Senior defensive back Alex Hansen was named a preseason All-American. He has earned first-team All-American honors each of the last two years. HSU is the only ASC team in the preseason poll.

Lindy's had the Cowboys 17th in its preseason top 25. Mary Hardin-Baylor (12) and East Texas Baptist (15), the two teams the Cowboys tied for the ASC Championship with last season, are also in the poll. Lindy's also named Hansen an All-American and also tabbed senior offensive guard Adam Hernandez a first-team All-America selection.

The Cowboys open their season on Thursday Sept. 9, when it hosts Sul Ross State in the first night game at Shelton Stadium.
