Nov. 25, 2003

BEAUMONT, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball team dropped a 110-76 decision to Division I Lamar, Tuesday evening at the Montagne Center in Beaumont.

Sophomore center Adam Shoupe led the Cowboys with 17 points and sophomore guard Grant Justus had 15 in the effort. Tanner Kudrna chipped in with 13, including three treys.

The 76 points were the second-most the Cowboys have scored against a Division I school since dropping from Division I in 1990. HSU is 0-17 since against Division I's since dropping from that level.

The Cowboys hit 9 3-pointers, were perfect at the free throw line (7-of-7) and only lost the battle of the boards 41-35. The Cardinals did manage to force 33 turnovers in the game that led to several leak outs and allowed Lamar to get the big lead.

Terrell Petteway had 30 points and Raymond Anthony netted 29 for the Cardinals.

Hardin-Simmons falls to 1-1 with the loss and Lamar improved to 2-0, under legendary coach Billy Tubbs. The Cowboys return to action Saturday at 3 p.m when it hosts Ozarks in ASC Crossover action.
