ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons's men's basketball has announced the commitment of five players for the 2002-03 season.

Weston Ryan, a 6-0 point guard from Southlake Carroll High School comes to the Cowboys after earning first-team all-district honors. Ryan averaged 12 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. He also was a pitcher and shortstop for Southlake's Class 4A State Championship baseball team. He had a .330 batting average.

Grant Justus is a 6-3 shooting guard from Katy High School. He averaged 10 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game, while earning second-team all-district honors. He was a team captain and two-year letterman.

Kyle Andrew is a 6-4, 220-pound power forward from Olney. A two-year starter he led the Cubs to the 2A Final Four. He was second-team all-district his junior and senior season, averaging eight points and four rebounds per game. He was a team captain and is a former teammate of Current Cowboy Matt Autry.

Le' Vaughn Parker is a 6-0 combo guard out of Ovilla Christian. He averaged 21.5 points, six rebounds and four assists, while earning first-team all-district honors. He averaged 20.8 points as a junior and 19.8 as a sophomore,e earning all-district honors both seasons.

Adam Shoupe is a 6-7 center from Brownsville. He averaged 17.1 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.9 blocks per game, while shooting 52 percent from the field as a senior. He was named first-team all-district, Brownsville Hearld All-Metro, All-Valley first team, first-team all region and was a preseason third-team all-stater by Texas Basketball Magazine. He was team captain and vice-president of FCA. He was a district MVP as a junior and was named third-team all-district as a sophomore.

The Cowboys return all five starters from last season's 2-22 team and will be a contender for the American Southwest Conference title this season.
