Dylan Howard

June 18, 2007

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball coach Dylan Howard just returned from Germany, where he took a Houston All-Star High School team consisting of the top seniors to be to compete on the tour. The team played five games and won all five by at least 25 points.

"It was a good trip, we got to be around some of the top players in Texas and they gelled quickly as a team," said Howard. "It was a great opportunity for me and them to experience a different country and I look forward to taking more teams over there."

There were two Texas Top 100 players on the team (Tommie Tyler from Langham Creek and Brandon Prevost from Katy Seven Lakes). The USA International Athletes defeted Bayern Muncheon of Munich 95-70, Franken Hexer of Nuemberg 145-53, MBCWolfe of Leipzig 117-56, Berlin Suid of Berlin 175-64, and IBBA of Berlin, 88-63. The IBBA team was the Junior National team of Berlin and provided the strongest challenge to the talented American team.

While in Germany the group was able to take several educational tours, including the Olympic Park from the 1972 Olympic Games held in Munich. Other highlights were visiting the Berlin Wall, kayaking in the river, going to palaces and castles where royalty has lived, visiting the battlefield where Napoleon was defeated, seeing the courthouse where Martin Luther was tried and going to a park where Hitler often gave his speeches and driving on the AUTOBAHN.
