Cowboys Look To Clinch ASC Playoff Spot

The Cowboys need one win this weekend to clinch a spot in the ASC Conference Tournament...Currently, HSU is in the fourth and final playoff position in the ASC West and is two games ahead of surging Sul Ross...But two victories this weekend will move HSU up to third in the West...The Cowboys, who have won seven out of the previous eight, go on the road for their final two games...HSU, who had their struggles away from home earlier in the year, has won three of their last four games on the road...The last time the Cowboys and the Crusaders met it was a dramatic 75-72 overtime victory for UMHB...Patrick Oliver led the Cru with a 18-point, nine-rebound effort against the Cowboys...Zach Pickelman (21), Tanner Kudrna (18), and Matt Brackett (10) were double-digit scorers for HSU in the overtime loss...The Cowboys beat Concordia-Austin last time out by a score of 87-79...Leading scorer Pickelman led the Cowboys once again with a 26-point performance...Mardochee Jean added 18 rebounds to go along with 14 points, and Kudrna contributed 19 points...The Cowboys are looking to beat UMHB at their home court for the first time ever., going 0-8 in Belton...HSU has also struggled in Austin having a 1-5 record against the Tornadoes on their home court...The Cowboys are an impressive 11-3 since the calendar turned...With five more blocked shots Mardochee Jean breaks the school record for most blocked shots in a career.
