Feb. 10, 2007 ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons let a 12-point second-half lead slip away and were forced into overtime, but the Cowboys prevailed 70-66 in American Southwest Conference West Division action against Texas Lutheran, Saturday afternoon in Seguin. HSU trailed 30-22 in the first half but closed the half on a 6-1 run to make it 31-28. HSU came out of halftime and went on a 13-5 run to take the lead at 41-36. The Cowboys pushed the lead to 58-46 with 6:02 play. TLU came right back and went on a 14-2 run to close out regulation. In overtime, the Cowboys got a bucket from Matt Brackett and then Michael Dinkins to take the lead and Brackett hit a pair of free throws to make it 68-64 with :17 to play. Brackett and James Peters each had 16 points to lead the Cowboys. Zach Pickelman added 15 for HSU. Nate Walton had 22 points to pace the Bulldogs and Michael Hill added 11. The Cowboys improved to 13-10 overall and 13-6 in ASC play. Texas Lutheran fell to 4-18 with the loss and 4-15 in league play. HSU will host Concordia-Austin on Thursday at the Mabee Complex. |
