RICHARDSON, Texas - For the first time since February of 2001, Hardin-Simmons has an American Southwest Conference men's basketball player of the week as Calvin Nite was named the ASC West co-player of the week with Brandon Gatlin of Mary Hardin-Baylor.

Nite became the first Cowboys since Jordan Clower in 2003 to have back-to-back 20-point games, leading the Cowboys to ASC road wins vs. Austin College and Ozarks. Nite scored 14 second-half points including six in the final 49 seconds of a 70-66 win at Ozarks.

The senior transfer from Abilene Christian shot 15-for-22 from the field, hit 88 percent at the foul line and added 17 rebounds as the Cowboys won their fifth straight game on the road.

Aaron Andrews was the last Cowboy to nab top honors in the conference.

The Cowboys have already eclipsed last season's record of 7-18, with its 8-4 mark. HSU hosts rival Howard Payne on Thursday in its next action.
