Marshall, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball team completed its weekend road sweep with a 65-60 win over East Texas Baptist, Saturday afternoon in American Southwest Conference action in Marshall. HSU trailed 29-27 at half, but moved out to a 9-point lead with 7:03 to go. But ETBU ran off nine straight points to tie the game at 53 at the 3:50 mark. But HSU pulled away down the stretch. Calvin Nite had six points in the final three minutes. Nite scored 22 points and hauled in seven rebounds and Zach Pickelman had 19 points and six rebounds to pace the Cowboys. The Isom twins had their usual big days for the Tigers, but no other ETBU player was a scoring factor in the game. Cedric and Chris Isom game into the game averaging 24 and 22.8 points per game respectively, but neither reached their average. Cedric led the way with 21 points and 10 rebounds and Chris added 18 points and 10 rebounds to pace the Tigers. The Cowboys improved to 5-2 on the season and are now 3-1 in American Southwest Conference action. East Texas Baptist fell to 2-3 overall and 2-2 in league play. HSU is off until Dec. 14, when it hosts McMurry at the Mabee Complex. |
