ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball team received double-doubles from Mardochee Jean and Zach Pickelman en route to a 90-74 win over Louisiana College in American Southwest Conference action at the Mabee Gym on Thursday night.

Jean tied his own school record with 22 rebounds (15 coming in the first half) and also added a season-best 19 points. Zach Pickelman had a season-high 28 points and also added 11 rebounds.

It was a good all-around game for the Cowboys starting five as freshman Michael Dinkins added 13 points, James Peters added 12 and point guard Matt Brackett had eight points, six assists and five rebounds.

The two teams played a back and forth first half with no lead bigger than seven and it was 40-37 at halftime. The Wildcats hit eight 3-pointers in the first half to stay in striking range.

HSU led only 68-64 with 8:28 to play, but went on a 15-4 run from the 8:28 mark to 2:56 mark. From then on the Cowboys iced the game at the free throw line, hitting 31-of-38 free throws. LC's two big men each fouled out in the first five minutes of the second half and the Wildcats had no post presence and hit only 3-for-13 from 3-point range in the second half.

Kase Gonzales had 12 points and Josh Johnson and Morey Skluzacek each had 11 for LC.

HSU is 2-2 on the year and 2-1 in ASC play. Louisiana College fell to 0-5 and 0-3. HSU will host Mississippi College on Saturday at 3 p.m.
