Cowboys Fall to Ozarks, 85-70

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball team dropped an 85-70 decision to the University of the Ozarks in American Southwest Conference crossover action at the Mabee Complex in Abilene.

The Cowboys jumped out to an 8-2 lead at the 17:06, before Ozarks came storming back with a run to tie the game at 10-10 with 14:23 to go in the game. The Eagles went on a run of 14-1 from the 15:40 mark t the 7:39 mark. Both team went back and forth the rest of the first half and the Eagles had a 25-24 lead at halftime.

In the second half, Ozarks was able to stretch their lead in the first five minutes of the half when Reggie Brassfield hit four consecutive 3-pointers in a 2:18 second span that gave the Eagles a lead they would not give up.

Tory Peters led the Cowboys with a career-best 21 points, and Adam Shoupe and Tanner Kudrna each had 12 points. Geoff Owens led Ozarks with 14 and Brassfield had 12.

Hardin-Simmons fell to 1-2 and Ozarks improved to 1-2. HSU will return to action Monday when it hosts Austin College at 7:30.
