Final Stats

LONGVIEW, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball team dropped a thriller 61-60 at LeTourneau on Monday night in American Southwest Conference action at the Solheim Arena in Longview.

The Cowboys trailed 37-27 at halftime and LeTourneau moved it out to a 46-30 lead, before the Cowboys went on a 19-4 run to cut the deficit to 50-49. LeTourneau went on an immediate 8-2 run to make it 58-51.

HSU battled back and Zach Pickelman hit a 3-pointer with :26 to play to cut it to 60-58. Marcus Coleman split a pair of free throws with 21 seconds to play HSU responded with a bucket by Mardochee Jean to make it 61-60 with 7.8 seconds to play. Jayme Bradley missed a pair of free throws and a James Peters buzzer beater from to the left of the lane at about 15 feet went half way down and came out.

Mardochee Jean led the Cowboys with 18 points and 15 rebounds. Michael Dinkins had 13 points and Zach Pickelman added 10. Dusty Evers led LeTourneau with 23 points in the game.

LeTourneau improved to 3-1 on the year and 1-1 in league play. HSU fell to 1-2 and 1-1 in conference action. Hardin-Simmons will return to action on Thursday when it hosts Louisiana College in its home opener.
