Cowboys Move To 3-1

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball team moved to 3-1 on the season with a 65-59 win over UT-Dallas in the American Southwest Conference opener for both teams, Saturday night at the Mabee Complex.

Zach Pickleman led a balanced Cowboy attack with 15 points and added 10 rebounds to lead the Cowboys on the boards. James Peters added 13 points and Tanner Kudrna came off the bench for 11.

The Cowboys overcame a 12-point first half deficit and overcame a 41-33 deficit at the 15:26 mark. Hsu took the lead for good in the second half when Calvin Nite scored on a back-door play from Garrett Pool.

A Pickelman jumper to beat the shot clock buzzer at the 4:46 mark in the game gave the Cowboys a 60-51 lead. UTD closed it to four, but HSU iced it at the free throw line.

Don Staten led UT-Dallas with 13 points. Tyrone Hurt had 10 points.

UT-Dallas fell to 1-2 overall and 0-1 in ASC play. HSU hosts UT-Tyler at 7:30 on Monday.
