TYLER, Texas - Hardin-Simmons and UT-Tyler battled back and forth for 37 minutes, but it was the Patriots that pulled away down the stretch for a 75-65 win in the American Southwest Conference opener for both schools. The game was tied at 61 all when the Cowboys had three straight turnovers and the Patriots converted all three times to take a 9-point lead. The game featured 16 ties and 16 lead changes. Mardochee Jean led the Cowboys with 18 points and Tanner Kudrna and Zach Pickelman each scored 10 for HSU. The Patriots had four players in double figures led by Joe Henderson's 17. The Cowboys (1-2, 0-1) return to action on Monday when it plays at UT-Dallas at 7:30 p.m. --- HSU Athletics --- |
