Final Stats

MARSHALL, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball team received 22 points from Zach Pickelman and 21 from freshman Michael Dinkins in a 86-63 win over East Texas Baptist in the American Southwest Conference opener for both schools, Saturday afternoon at Ornelas Gym in Marshall.

The Cowboys led 32-24 at the break, but came out and shot 71.4 percent in the second half. HSU went on a 14-6 run out of the gate to take a comfortable 46-30 lead. Dinkins scored six points in the run and Tom Horn and freshman Steven Luckey hit 3-pointers.

Pickelman had 22 points, six rebounds and four assists and Dinkins had 21 points and seven rebounds. Mardochee Jean chipped in 11 points and nine rebounds.

Chris Isom led the Tigers with 19 points and 14 rebounds.

HSU moved to 1-1 on the year and 1-0 in ASC play. East Texas Baptist fell to 0-4 on the year and 0-1 in conference action. HSU will play at LeTourneau on Monday.
