Nov. 21, 2006 GEORGETOWN, Texas - Southwestern rallied from an eight-point second half deficit to defeat Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball team, 58-56, in the HSU's season opener in Georgetown. The Pirates went on a 10-0 run to the close the first half and take a 30-27 lead, after the Cowboys led 27-20. In the second half, the Cowboys jumped to as much as an eight point lead, but the Pirates again fought back and Matt Caplan hit a 3-pointer with 1:08 to play to cut the Cowboy lead to 56-54 and a Mike Powell jumper with :35 seconds to play tied the game and Powell hit a pair of free throws to give the Pirates a 58-56 lead with six seconds to play.
