Nov. 19, 2004 ABILENE, Texas - Zach Pickelman led four players in double figures to propel Hardin-Simmons to a 106-91 win over Wylie College on Friday at the ACU Tipoff Classic at Moody Coliseum. Pickelman had 15 points, Garrett Pool had 14 points and seven assists, Calvin Nite had 12 points and freshman Tress White had 10 points in his Cowboy debut. The Cowboys jumped to a 53-29 halftime lead and cruised to an easy win. Wiley was coming of a 107-97 loss to Division I McNeese State in its last outing. Chris Howard led Wiley with 21 points and Silvester Simple and Willie Holloway each added 20 points. HSU hit 12 3-pointers in the contest and won the battle of the boards 48-40. It is the third straight season that the Cowboys have opened the season with a win. The 106 points are the most in the Dylan Howard era. HSU will play Cameron at 2 p.m. on Saturday. |
