ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons men's basketball team got a pair of solid performances from brothers Mardochee and Dan Jean on their senior day as the Cowboys dominated Schreiner from the start in a 67-46 American Southwest Conference win at the Mabee Complex on Saturday afternoon. Dan Jean had 15 points, nine rebounds and five blocks and Mardochee Jean had 16 points, nine rebounds, three assists, three steals and three blocks. The Cowboys jumped out to a 16-2 lead. Marcus Smith started out hitting his first three 3-pointers in the first 1:29 of the game. Schreiner never got the deficit below 11 the rest of the game. Smith had 14 points for the Cowboys, all in the first half. Schreiner did not have a player with more than seven points in the game. HSU's defense limited the Mountaineers to 34.6 percent shooting and forced 27 turnovers. HSU is now 14-9 on the year and 13-6 in league play. Schreiner fell to 4-19 overall and 4-15 in league play. HSU will close the season at Concordia and Mary Hardin-Baylor next weekend. |
