Mardochee Jean

Feb. 16, 2006

Final Stats

BELTON, Texas - Mary Hardin-Baylor's men's basketball team used a strong run out of the halftime locker room to take a 23-point lead and never looked back in a 86-70 win over Hardin-Simmons, Thursday evening at the Mayborn Campus Center.

The loss puts the Cowboys in a must-win situation on Saturday when it plays at Concordia-Austin on Saturday in Austin. A win and the Cowboys are in the ASC Tournament, a loss and their season is most likely finished.

The Cowboys were behind from before the opening tip, when Ricky Ovaitt was called for a technical foul for hanging on the rim in pregame warmups. Kevin Guyden hit both free throws and the Crusaders jumped to a 19-5 lead. The Cowboys cut it to six points but the Crusaders scored eight of the last 10 points of the first half.

HSU was led by Mardochee Jean's 17 points. Tanner Kudrna had 15 points and Zach Pickelman added 14. Guyden led UMHB with 28 points and three other players reached double figures.

HSU fell to 14-10 on the year and 13-8 in conference play. UMHB improved to 16-8 overall and 15-6 in league play.
