Cowboys Fall To UMHB

BELTON, Texas - Hardin-Simmons took a lead into the halftime locker room, but could not hold in the second half as they dropped a 67-58 decision to Mary Hardin-Baylor in American Southwest Conference West Division Action on Thursday night.

The Cowboys did not attempt a free throw in the second half and were outscored 24-10 at the line in the game. UMHB hit 14 of 19 charity tosses in the second half.

Tanner Kudrna and Zach Pickelman both posted 16 points and five rebounds. Pickelman hit 4-of-5 3-pointers to continue his push for ASC freshman of the year honors. Kudrna hit three treys in the game.

Brandon Gatlin led the Crusaders with 17 points and Justin Hejl added 14.

HSU fell to 6-16 overall and 4-7 in ASC West play. UMHB improved to 16-6 overall and 8-3 in conference play to remain one-half game out of the conference lead.

Hardin-Simmons will return to action Saturday at Concordia-Austin.
