ALPINE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball dropped a 53-49 decision to Sul Ross State in American Southwest Conference action at the Gallegos Center in Alpine, Texas. The game was back and forth throughout with 15 lead changes and 12 ties in the game. Neither team led by more than five points in the game and it was tied at 49 when Jermaine Packer hit a jumper to give the Lobos the lead. On HSU's next possession the officials said Zach Pickelman stepped on the sideline before the Cowboys even started the play. Art Gonzalez hit two free throws and the Cowboys desperate attempt at a 3-pointer fell off the mark. Mardochee Jean led the Cowboys with 14 points all in the second half. Zach Pickelman added 11 points and Michael Dinkins chipped in 10 points. Jermaine Packer and Jesus Benuelos each had 10 points for Sul Ross State. The Cowboys fell to 11-10 on the year and 11-6 in American Southwest Conference play. Sul Ross State improved to 6-14 overall and 6-11 in ASC play. HSU plays at Schreiner on Thursday. |
