Cowboys Continue Roll With Easy Win OVer TLU

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball team continued its impressive defensive run and won its sixth straight game with a 61-39 win over Texas Lutheran, Saturday afternoon in American Southwest Conference action at the Mabee Complex.

The Cowboys limited the Bulldogs to 28.8 percent shooting, marking the sixth time in seven games HSU has limited its opponent to less than 40 percent shooting. HSU dominated on the boards with a 45-28 advantage and limited the Bulldogs to just 10 points in the first 16:37 of the second half.

"We have been able to take teams out of their game plans defensively," said HSU head coach Dylan Howard. "We rebounded well and we shared the basketball on offense with 17 assists on 22 makes."

Once again the Cowboys had a balanced attack, with three players in double figures. Mardochee Jean had 13 points and Zach Pickelman and Tanner Kudrna each had 12 points. Peters led the defensive charge with 10 rebounds and also limited, TLU sharpshooter Will Hudson to nine points, including a scoreless second half on 0-for-4 shooting.

Hudson led the Bulldogs in scoring and Billy Williams and Nate Walton had eight points each off the bench.

HSU has now won six straight games, matching the longest winning streak of the Dylan Howard era. HSU is 13-8 overall and 12-6 in ASC play. Texas Lutheran fell to 6-13 overall and 5-12 in league play. The Cowboys host Sul Ross State on Thursday at the Mabee Complex.
