Final Stats

BROWNWOOD, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball team had its seven-game winning streak snapped with a 73-64 loss at Howard Payne in American Southwest Conference action at the Brownwood Coliseum.

Neither team led by more than six points in a back and forth game in the second half, until HPU's Chris Cornwelll had back-to-back buckets to make the HPU lead 58-48 with 7:35 to play.

HSU did not get closer than seven points the rest of the way.

Mardochee Jean led the Cowboys with 29 points and 13 rebounds. No other Cowboy made it to double figures.

Five HPU players reached double figures, with Deandry McDaniel leading the way with 13.

The Cowboys fell to 11-8 on the year and 10-5 in ASC action. Howard Payne improved to 10-9 on the year and 8-7 in league play.

HSU will return to the Mabee Complex to take on Sul Ross State on Thursday.
