Jan. 30, 2003 ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball team broke a seven-game losing streak and won its first American Southwest Conference West Division game of the year with a 68-61 win over Schreiner on Thursday evening at the Mabee Complex. The Cowboys shot 54 percent for the game and limited the Mountaineers to 33.3 percent. Senior Jason Eaker led the Cowboys with 17 points and Bryan Conover recorded his third straight double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Schreiner was led by Jarel Hall's 21 points. HSU's win was the first at home this season and the Cowboys have doubles last season's win total. The Cowboys improved to 4-13 overall and 1-5 in conference play. Schreiner fell to 1-16 overall and 1-6 in league action. The Cowboys will host Texas Lutheran on Saturday at 3 p.m. |
