Final Stats

SEGUIN, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball used a strong first half surge to take a 16-point halftime lead and the held of Texas Lutheran for its third straight win, 61-51, Saturday afternoon in American Southwest Conference action in Seguin.

The Cowboys did not have a double-digit scorer but had seven scorers with seven or more points. HSU did a good job on the defense boards, allowing only four offensive rebounds and taking the rebounding battle 33-27. HSU also had 16 assists on 22 made baskets.

HSU led 34-18 at halftime and Texas Lutheran cut it to four at 54-50, but HSU pulled back away down the stretch.

Matt Nelson and Will Hudson each had 17 points to lead Texas Lutheran.

The Cowboys improved to 10-8 on the year and 9-6 in ASC action. Texas Lutheran fell to 6-10 overall and 5-9 in league play. HSU hosts McMurry at 7:30 on Monday at the Mabee Complex.
