Cowboys Win Sixth Straight

KERRVILLE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball team won its sixth straight game with a 67-55 American Southwest Conference win over Schreiner Saturday afternoon in Kerrville.

The Cowboys trailed 27-26 at halftime after Schreiner dominated the backboards 25 to 11. HSU came out in the second half and put the game away with a 21-2 run.

HSU had a balanced attack again as Rob Yeatts led the way with a career-best 18 points. Dan Jean had 15 points and Mardochee Jean added 14 points. He also had four steals to become the second Division III player ever with 1,000 points, 800 rebounds, 250 blocks, 150 assists and 100 steals.

The Cowboys had only six turnovers in the game to overcome a 36.5 percent shooting night.

Riley Battle led Schreiner with 15 points and Matt Riley added 12.

It is the third time in the Dylan Howard era that the Cowboys have won six straight. HSU improved to 10-7 overall and 9-4 in league play. Schreiner fell to 4-12 overall and 4-8 in ASC play. HSU plays at Sul Ross State on Thursday.
