Jan. 25, 2003 ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons men's team lost a hard-fought American Southwest Conference West Division game to arch-rival Howard Payne, 84-76, Saturday afternoon at the Mabee Complex. The loss extended the Cowboys losing streak to seven straight games. Jordan Clower led the Cowboy effort with 20 points. Bryan Conover had 15 points and 11 rebounds and Jason Eaker added 11. The Cowboys shot 53.7 percent for the game. ASC Player of the Year favorite Benny West led the Yellowjackets with 23 points, seven steals, six assists and five rebounds. Justin Foster added 16. The Cowboys fell to 3-13 with the loss and to 0-5 in league play. Howard Payne improved to 10-7 and 3-3. HSU will host winless Schreiner on Thursday at 7:30. |
