ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball team won its second straight game with a 66-60 win over Texas Lutheran in American Southwest Conference action at the Mabee Complex on Saturday night. The Cowboys had five players in double figures, including the Jean brothers. Mardochee Jean just missed a triple-double with 12 points, 16 rebounds and nine assists. He also had four blocks in 37 minutes of action. Five of his assists went to his brother Dan on the Cowboys hi-low game and Dan had a season best 10 points. Zach Pickelman led the Cowboys with 15 points, Michael Dinkins added 11 and Matt Brackett chipped in 10. HSU never trailed in the game, after jumping out to a 12-2 lead. The Cowboys led by double digits most of the second half until a late Bulldog flurry cut the margin to 64-59. TLU was led by Nate Walton's 12 points and J.C. Smith and J.C. Herebia each had 11 points. The Cowboys are now 8-4 in conference play and 8-8 on the year. They stand one-half game behind Mary Hardin-Baylor in the conference standings. They are tied in the ASC standings with McMurry, whom they play on Monday night in Kimbrell Arena. Texas Lutheran fell to 4-12 overall and 4-9 in the league. |
