ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball team jumped to a 12-2 lead in the first 5:37 of the game and never trailed as the Cowboys snapped a two-game losing streak with an 89-74 win over Schreiner in American Southwest Conference action at the Mabee Complex.

Senior Zach Pickelman hit six 3-pointers and scored 33 points and junior center was dominating on the interior with 28 points and 16 rebounds. Charlie Pannell had eight points and nine rebounds in his first career start.

HSU led by as many as 17 points on two different occasions and never trailed by more than 111 points after the first possession of the second half.

Pickelman hit his last six 3-point attempts in the game and was one point off his career high.

Schreiner had four players in double figures, led by talented freshman Richard Moore, who poured in 20. Jonathan Young had 16 points and Travis Clark added 15 off the bench.

HSU improved to 7-8 overall and 7-4 in conference action. Schreiner fell to 5-11 overall and 5-7 in conference play. HSU hosts Texas Lutheran at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
