Cowboys Turn Over Win To Concordia

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons committed 30 turnovers and Concordia-Austin took full advantage in a 97-85 upset of the American Southwest Conference West leading Cowboys, Thursday evening in the Woltman Activities Center in Austin.

The Cowboys had 22 turnovers in the first half, but was able to fight them off and only trailed 35-32. Concordia-Austin came out a lot stronger in the second half and they shot the lights out hitting 22-for-38 in the second half, including 6-for-7 from 3-point range.

Mardochee Jean had 26 points 20 rebounds and five blocks for the Cowboys. James Peters had 16 points and Zach Pickelman had 14 points, all in the second half.

Michael Moore led Concordia-Austin with 24 points and Joel McDonald added 20. Michael Sherlin had 16 points off the bench as the Tornados had five players in double figures.

HSU fell to 6-7 overall and 6-3 in ASC play. The loss snapped a four-game ASC winning streak. Concordia-Austin improved to 4-8 overall and 3-5 in league play. HSU plays at Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday at 3 p.m.
