ABILENE, Texas - For the eighth straight game the Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball team led in the second half, but the Cowboys saw the lead slip away for the seventh time in those eight games in a 69-61 loss to Mississippi College, Saturday at the Mabee Complex. The young Cowboys keep showing flashes of coming around and have been competitive in all but one game this season. The Cowboys open will return to ASC West play on Thursday at Mary Hardin-Baylor and the games start counting in the standings. HSU led 48-46 with 6:48 to go in the game, but the Choctaws responded with a 7-2 lead to take the lead that they would not relinquish. Bryan Conover led the Cowboys with 13 points, Jason Eaker added 11 and Grant Justus poured in 10 off the bench. Lance Johnson led the balanced Choctaw attack with 12 points and 13 rebounds. The Choctaws saw 10 players score in the game. HSU fell to 3-9 with the loss and Mississippi College improved to 7-4. |
