Final Stats

RICHARDSON, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball turned the ball over 27 times en route to a 61-47 loss to UT-Dallas in American Southwest Conference action at the UTD Activities Center in Richardson.

Mardochee Jean became the American Southwest Conference's all-time leader in rebounds with 814 for his career, surpassing Bennie West of Howard Payne. That was one of the lone bright spots for the Cowboys, who struggled against the Comets pressure defense.

Both teams started slow in the game as it was 10-6 with 9:01 to play in the first half. HSU trailed 26-23 at halftime.

The game remained close until Jean went out of the game for about seven minutes with a head injury. UTD took the lead from 28-27 when Jean went out to 41-29 when he came back in. HSU never recovered and dropped their fourth straight game.

Jean led the Cowboys with 12 points and Scott Rodgers had 15 for UT-Dallas.

HSU is now 4-7 overall and 3-4 on the year and UTD improved to 9-3 overall and 5-2 in league play. HSU plays at UT-Tyler at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
