SHERMAN, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball team shot 61 percent in the first half and jumped out to a 50-19 halftime and never looked back in an 84-41 rout of Austin College, Thursday night in American Southwest Conference action in Sherman.

Calvin Nite led the charge for the Cowboys with 21 points and James Peters added 12. Every Cowboy that played in the game scored. HSU hit 8-of-10 3-pointers in the first half and made 11 in the game. HSU led 29-9 with seven minutes remaining in the first half.

The Cowboys had a 38-20 advantage on the boards in the game and finished the game shooting 51 percent.

Austin College was led by Anthony Holman's 11 points. The Kangaroos shot just 33 percent for the game and turned it over 21 times.

The win was the seventh of the season for the Cowboys, matching last season's win total. HSU is 7-4 on the year and 5-3 in ASC play. Austin College fell to 2-7 overall and 1-5 in league play.

HSU plays at Ozarks on Saturday at 3 p.m.
