Cowboys Gain 22 Verbal Agreements

HSU Looks to Reload

Aug. 2, 2002

ABILENE, Texas - baseball Hardin-Simmons head baseball coach Steve Coleman ahs announced the committment of 22 baseball players for the 2002-03 school season.

This year's class consists of four junior college transfers, a four-year transfer and 17 high school seniors.

"We have met some needs with this class," said Coleman. "There are some guys that will step in and probably start immediately and there are some others that are a year or two away. You need both kinds to develop a strong program."

"I think we have added some power eespecially with (Andy) Harrington, a kid that comes from Texas A&M and Howard JC. He can give us the power bat we need in the middle of the lineup. We also added some pitching depth and some quality outfielders. We lost two starters in the outfield so we need to find some guys that can help us there."

The Cowboys are coming off an 18-22 season and return five position starters and three pitchers from last year's team.
