Five Cowboys Named To All-ASC Team

Rodriguez Named First-team All-ASC West - Chuy Rodriguez' first-team selection highlighted five Hardin-Simmons' baseball players that were named to the American Southwest Conference West-Division Teams as voted on by the league's coaches.

Rodriguez was named the All-ASC West first-team third baseman after hitting .375 with four homers and 24 RBIs. He also added 15 doubles and four triples to lead the Cowboys in extra-base hits.

Seniors John Schlaffer and Ryan Devere were named second-team All-ASC West. Schlaffer, hit .348 and was third in the league with 50 RBIs. He added six homers and 11 doubles while playing a solid second base. Devere played center and left fields for the Cowboys and hit .317 with five homers and 22 RBIs. Sophomore pitcher Kyle Tabor and freshman outfielder Josh Anderlohr were each named honorable mention All-ASC.

Josh Lee of McMurry took the ASC West Player of the Year honors. Steven Hutcherson was named as ASC West Newcomer of the Year, and shortstop Albert Carrizales of McMurry was named Freshman of the Year. Texas Lutheran University head coach Bill Miller was named West Coach of the Year after leading the Bulldogs to the West Division title and a No. 1 national ranking. Jeremy Collins of East Texas Baptist, Sam Graham of Mississippi College and Josh Ross of LeTourneau were named ASC East tri-players of the year.
