Feb. 10, 2007 ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons scored seven runs in the eighth inning to rally for a 16-14 win over Oklahoma Baptist and then dropped the nightcap to Lubbock Christian 4-2 in non-conference baseball action at Hunter Field on Saturday. In the dramatic eighth inning Taylor Gibbs led off with a walk and moved to second on a James Gage single. Blake Koch then singled scoring Gibbs. Gage scored on Trevor Bunte groundout. Taylor Lamar then singled followed by a Ryan Stepp RBI single. Tre' Sellari doubled home a run and Brad Coleman was intentionally walked. After a stikeout, Gibbs had a two-run single. Coleman then scored on a wild pitch. Stepp and Coleman each had four hits for the Cowboys and Stepp drove in three runs. Gibbs scored three runs and drove in three. Tim Kreigel won the game in relief in his first action as a Cowboy and Josh Alcorn recorded the save. In the nightcap, Lubbock Christian scored three runs in five innings off of starter Dalton Rucker and held on for a 4-2 win. Eight different Cowboys had singles in the game. HSU is 1-2 on the year and will play at UT-Permian Basin on Saturday. |
