RICHARDSON, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' baseball team dropped a 4-0 decision to UT-Dallas in the first round of the American Southwest Conference Championship Series, Friday afternoon in Richardson. The Cowboys were unable to scratch against UT-Dallas starter Mark Cox, who went the distance and allowed only six hits. UT-Dallas scored two runs in the fourth inning on four straight singles. Mitch Elliott had the two-run scoring single. HSU escaped further damage in the inning when they turned their second double play of the game. The Comets added single runs in the fourth and fifth innings. UTD had 12 hits in the game, all singles. Lance Johnson (4-2) took the loss for the Cowboys. He allowed two runs on six hits in four innings of work. James Sweatman pitched four innings in relief. HSU fell to 25-16 with the loss and UTD improved to 30-9 on the year. The Cowboys would need two wins tomorrow to extend their season. The first game starts at 11 a.m. |
